More than 68 families were displaced in separate fire incidents in Cagayan de Oro City and Davao City on Monday, August 18, 2025.

In Cagayan de Oro City, the fire broke out in Barangay Canitoan around 5 a.m.

The fire, which affected four houses, was put out past 6 a.m.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the damage was estimated at more than P1.3 million.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

“So, ang challenge sa area ok man ang dalan, passable man siya pero naa mga under construction uban nga mga dalan pa nga maagian namo karon. So sa fire truck dili gyud siya ingon nga mudiretso ta mu-abide man gihapon ta og traffic rules and regulations,” Pagatpat Fire Sub-station Commander, SFO1 Hernan Fabre, said.

One of the residents affected is calling for help.

“Sa katung mga tao nga gustong mutabang kung naa mo mga gamay nga hinabang, willing mi mudawat. Salamat kaayo sa muhatag kay kinahanglan man gyud tag banig, kaldero ug bugas gyud,” resident affected, Jocel Bonggo, said.

Meanwhile, more than 60 families were affected by the fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Agdao Proper, Davao City around 2 p.m., based on initial data.

Several residents helped firefighters put out the fire.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) has conducted profiling to determine the exact number of families affected and the damage to properties.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the two incidents.
