A P3.3-million fire struck a house in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.

The fire broke out on August 16, 2025.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the two-storey house destroyed by the fire is owned by the Juntela family.

“Umabot kami dito around 5:55 p.m. at nakitang almost natupok na itong bahay. Ayon sa fire pattern at witness, ang apoy ay mula sa second floor ng bahay, sa silid ng anak ng may-ari,” according to FO2 Rolin John Paulan, Bacolod City Fire Station chief investigator.

The owners of the house were not around when GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas went to seek for their statement.

BFP confirmed that damages left behind by the fire incident reached P3.3 million.

The bureau said that faulty electrical wiring is possibly the cause of the fire.

“Ang wire, may insulator na rubber plastic. Through time nag-deteriorate kung saan may mga factor pa sa pest infestation,” Paulan added.

Meanwhile, a house owned by the Tanaleon family in Barangay Cabadiangan, Sipalay City, Province of Negros Occidental was totally gutted.

Residents said they heard an explosion prior to flames engulfing the house.

Firefighters controlled the blaze in at least three minutes. However, the Tanaleon family was not able to save any personal belongings.

The house was made reportedly of light materials.

As of this writing, investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the cost of damages.
