Two alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in a renewed clash in Barangay Guihean, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

The gun battle erupted just days after the military engaged the NPA combatants in an exchange of fire in Barangay Dumalaguing that left four rebels dead on August 13, 2025.

Military troops were pursuing the fleeing rebels, which resulted in the firefight.

The military said the operation involved ground maneuver units and artillery support from different battalions under the 403rd Infantry Brigade and reinforced by air support executed by the Philippine Air Force.

The firefight resulted in the death of two alleged rebels, a man and a woman, and confiscation of five high-powered firearms, war materials, and subversive documents.

“Sa atong mga kaigsuonan dinhi sa Bukidnon, amo gyud ipadayon na mahimong malinawon ang atong probinsya. Ug sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga naa pa sa kabukiran, gina imbitar ko kamo nga munaog na. Dili ta mag away kay pareha ra tang Pilipino. Musuporta gyud ang gobyerno sa inyoha. Ang gobyerno andam na musagop ninyo tanan. Naay suporta nga ihatag sainyong pamilya aron manginabuhi mo ug tarong diri sa ubos,” 403rd Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Siegfred Tubalado, said.

The troops transported the remains of the slain rebels so these could be claimed by their respective families.

“This pursuit operation is a clear manifestation that there is no safe haven for the remaining NPA terrorists. It proves that wherever they attempt to regroup, our troops on land and in the air, will immediately respond with precision and overwhelming force. Our combined arms capability, from infantry maneuvers to artillery fire and air interdiction, worked seamlessly to disrupt their plans,” Tubalado added.
