The nine-year-old boy mauled by high school students in Iligan City has identified his alleged attackers after he returned home from the hospital on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Police said the victim identified three of four 13-year-old boys accused of attacking him and a nine-year-old boy believed to have caused the incident.
“Pag-ana sa picture, Oo tango, kini? Oo tango, Kini? Tango. Pagmo-wiper man gud siya, wala na siya’y apil. So naa ta’y gipakita nga bata nitango pud siya katung nine years old. Actually, katung bata-a nga nine years old, mao to’y hinungdan sa tanan,” Iligan City Police Office Spokesperson, Major Zandrex Panolong, said.
The victim’s family has already prepared the complaint they will file against the minor suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO).
Police are also awaiting the resolution from the CPO so they can take action against the minors.
“Hangyuon namo ang fiscal nga dili maka-adto ang (victim) kay mo-file ka og kaso dapat with the presence of the victim ug mga witness, unya unsaon ta man nga na-ospital man… gihangyo lang nila nga with the presence of the police lang with the documents ang naa or kung unsa nga way o whatsoever para lang gyud masang-at na ang reklamo,” Panolong added.
The victim’s family is also considering seeking civil damages. The family has thanked those who have extended assistance and support.
“Thank you diay sa mga nagtabang para sa akong manghod both financially and spiritually and also sa mga prayers ninyo, thank you so much and God bless us all,” the victim’s sibling said.
The boy is reportedly in better condition, able to move and speak, although his voice remains weak, as of this writing. He continues to take medication and is scheduled for follow-up checkups at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in Cagayan de Oro City.
