The police in Mangaldan, Pangasinan impounded several motorcycles driven by high school students without licenses or proper documents during an operation on P. De Guzman Street.

Authorities had been stationed outside Mangaldan National High School before dismissal time and immediately flagged down students caught driving without licenses.

“I am discouraging the parents. Alam ninyong minor ang mga bata at walang license, dapat hindi sila payagan na mag-drive,” PMaj. Ronald Bautista, Deputy Chief of Mangaldan Police Station, said.

According to police, many of the accidents in town involved unlicensed drivers. Prior to the operation, students and parents had been warned that minors are prohibited from driving motorcycles.

The vehicles without proper documents and those driven by students without licenses were taken to the impounding area.

Parents like Julis Calimquim expressed support for the crackdown.

“To be honest, dapat talaga ganito ang ginagawa ng PNP kasi ‘yang mga bata walang license,” Calimquim said.

Police said their presence near the school was not only to enforce traffic laws but also to prevent possible trouble among students.

“Dito kasi sa labas ng school madalas na may mga frat war, bullying,” Bautista said.
