The Dagupan City police assured the public that the case against the suspects in the killing of a seven-year-old girl found on the shore of Barangay Bonuan Gueset on August 15, 2025 is moving swiftly.
The couple suspected in the crime are facing charges of kidnapping with homicide and remain under police custody. Authorities said the case is set to reach the court soon.
“Noong Monday after more than 14 hrs or 15 hrs na pag-refer po natin ng kaso sa piskal, is natapos din, nagkatoon na rin ng resolution based doon sa nakalap natin,” PLtCol. Lawrence Keith Calub, officer-in-charge of Dagupan City Police Station, said.
He added that the court raffle of the case is expected next week.
“I believe this Monday, maira-raffle na po yung kaso so maiaakyat na po sa korte.”
Once the case proceeds, the suspects will be turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Police are also waiting for the results of the autopsy on the victim. Calub stressed that the gathered evidence is strong.
“Ito pong pieces of evidence na na-gather ay airtight, hindi lang po probable cause yung madarating po ng ating ini-refer na kaso,” he said.
Following the incident, the Pangasinan police urged parents to be extra vigilant in protecting their children.
The police also committed to intensify their information drive on child protection and safety awareness.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victim is at their home in Asingan, Pangasinan. The burial is scheduled on Monday, August 25, 2025.
