Three riders were killed while two others were injured after a dump truck crashed into three motorcycles in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City morning on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Based on investigation, the victims were heading to the city proper while the truck carrying gravel was bound for Talakag, Bukidnon when the accident happened.
Police said the dump truck’s brakes reportedly malfunctioned and hit the three motorcycles.
The motorcycles then fell into a ravine about 30 to 50 meters deep.
Emilita Simon, said.
The three riders died on the spot while two individuals riding in pillion sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital for treatment.
Because of the accident, only one lane is passable, as of this writing, because the truck is blocking the road.
Residents described the area as accident-prone due to its curve and downhill slope.
The truck driver was taken into police custody and may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
