A 15-year-old boy allegedly beat his 55-year-old mother to death in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental.

Police said the victim’s neighbor noticed a foul odor coming from the victim’s house and found the woman lying lifeless on the ground with a cloth covering her face.

The woman was already in a state of decomposition when found.

Based on investigation, the suspect allegedly entered the house and asked for food on August 15, 2025 but the victim allegedly refused.

The suspect then allegedly punched the victim and banged her head on the floor, causing her to lose consciousness.

The suspect subsequently dragged the victim to their room and wrapped her head. He then cleaned the bloodstains on the floor and left the house.

Authorities said the suspect turned himself in to the police on Thursday, August 20, 2025 and reportedly owned up to the crime.

Police said a parricide case will be filed against the suspect, but it will be up to the court to determine whether he had discernment when he committed the crime.

“PRO-10 regrets the tragic case in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental where a 15-year-old minor killed his own mother. The child, who came from a dysfunctional family with separated parents, has surrendered and is now under the care of authorities with the MSWD,” PRO-10 said.

“We assure the public that justice will be served while also stressing the importance of strong family support to prevent similar incidents,” PRO-10 added.
