An alleged member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) wanted for murder and loose firearms was arrested in Kadayangan, Cotabato.

The accused identified as alias “Maro” was arrested by virtue of warrants for murder and attempted murder issued by a court in Midsayap, North Cotabato.

He is an alleged member of BIFF-Bungos faction under Commander Motorola and tagged as number nine most wanted person in the region.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the accused and 11 other members of BIFF-Bungos faction allegedly attacked and hacked a prominent elder of a community at a rice field in Barangay Tumbras, Midsayap on April 13, 2019.

The victim died after sustaining multiple hack wounds.

During the service of the arrest warrant, authorities seized a caliber .45 pistol and ammunition from the accused.

“I commend the CIDG Maguindanao Provincial Field Unit for their swift and responsive police action that resulted in the capture of this armed and dangerous fugitive. With his arrest, we helped the victims attain the justice they deserved, and with the confiscation of the loose firearm, we remove the instrument of crimes thereby prevented crimes,” CIDG Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, said.
