An elderly couple was injured after the man allegedly hacked his wife, set their house on fire, and stabbed himself in San Isidro, Davao del Norte.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the San Isidro Municipal Police Station identified the man as alias “Nonong,” 69, and his wife as alias “Ining,” 65, both residents of Barangay Linao.

Based on investigation, the couple allegedly fought, which led to the man hacking his wife multiple times. The cause of the fight has yet to be determined.

Neighbors rushed the victim to the hospital.

After the incident, the suspect allegedly set their house on fire, stabbed himself, and drank poison. He was also brought to the hospital.

The suspect may face charges for attempted homicide and arson.
