Heavy rain was forecast over parts of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique as the southwest monsoon continued to affect the country, the state weather bureau said Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

According to PAGASA, these areas may experience 50 to 100 millimeters of rain from Wednesday until noon Thursday, August 28.

From Thursday noon until Friday noon, August 29, Occidental Mindoro will remain under the same rainfall outlook.

PAGASA warned that rainfall may be stronger in mountainous or elevated areas. Flooding and landslides are also possible since some locations have already been soaked by earlier rains.

The public and local disaster offices were advised to take precautionary measures to protect lives and property. PAGASA’s regional offices may also issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings or Thunderstorm Advisories when necessary.

The weather bureau said their Weather Advisory gives a broad 24-hour outlook at the provincial level, while a Heavy Rainfall Warning is more accurate, issued up to the municipal level, and covers only the next three hours. Because of this, advisories should not be used as the basis for class suspensions or other immediate decisions.
