Two people were killed while seven others were injured after the passenger van they were riding was ambushed in Guindulungan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The fatalities were identified as alias “Datu Masla” and alias “Alan.”

According to the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, the van was carrying 16 passengers and was heading home to Sultan sa Barongis when it was ambushed upon reaching Barangay Bagan around 7 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025.

The driver, who was unharmed, managed to drive the vehicle to the Datu Saudi Ampatuan Municipal Police Station to seek help.

“Nung time na sila ay pinagbabaril sa Brgy. Bagan, nagawa pang imaneho ng driver kasi wala siyang tama at nadala niya at nakahingi ng tulong doon sa ating Datu Saudi Ampatuan Municipal Police Station kaya agarang naaksyunan at nadala sa ospital itong ating mga biktima,” Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Capt. Guiseppe Tamayo, said.

Datu Masla was already dead when they arrived at the police station. Eight other passengers were brought to the hospital but Alan was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are pursuing the suspects, as of this writing.

Police are investigating whether the incident had something to do with rido or clan feud.

“Hindi pa official na makapagbigay ng statement yung ating kapulisan patungkol diyan hangga’t di pa natin nava-validate,” Tamayo added.
