The 16-year-old boy in a viral video who allegedly mocked and cursed a foreign content creator visiting Samal Island has apologized before Mayor Lemuel Reyes.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the local government said the boy was accompanied by his family when he appeared before the mayor.

Reyes reminded the boy to be cautious with his actions and take the incident as a lesson.

It was learned that the incident happened in November 2024 but the foreign content creator uploaded the video only in August 2025.

In the video, the boy was heard cursing and mocking the foreigner as he jumped into the sea in Sabang.

The local government expressed dismay over the incident and directed the boy to apologize to the vlogger.

The local government also clarified that this was an isolated case and does not reflect the character of Samaleños.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is set to place the boy under intervention programs as mandated by the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (RA 9344).

The interventions include spiritual counseling and community service for three months in the barangay.
