Two police officials who were assigned in Western Visayas are back in the service after their dismissal in 2021.

Lt. Col. Noel Lamsis and Major Rio Maymay have been reinstated by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The two officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were in the narcotics list (narco-list) of erstwhile president, Rodrigo Duterte. In 2021, a decision of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) ruled that the two were guilty of incompetence and gross neglect of duty that resulted in their dismissal from the service.

But for lack of merit, Lamsis and Maymay were acquitted along with other policemen from charges against them.

The CSC ordered the immediate reinstatement of the cops.

Aside from reinstatement, the policemen are expected to receive full backpay, and to avail of leave credits and other benefits dating from the moment they were removed from office.

GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas tried to get a statement from Lamsis and Maymay, and is still awaiting their reply, as of posting time.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has welcomed the decision, but as of this writing, it has not received yet an order on the reinstatement of the two officials.

“Nagfo-follow lang tayo kung ano man ang naging result na isinagawa ng CSC. So kung anuman ang order mula sa taas, i-follow lang natin at ipatupad dito sa baba,” Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO 6 spokesperson, said.
