A tricycle burst into flames on the road in Barangay Dadiangas West, General Santos City on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
The driver, a resident of Purok Maguindanao in Barangay Labangal, was unharmed.
A resident volunteered to put the fire out using a fire extinguisher.
Personnel of the Public Safety Office (PSO) also responded to manage the traffic in the area.
According to the Bureau of Fire (BFP), the damage was estimated at P5,000.
Authorities are looking into faulty electrical wiring as possible cause of the fire.
“When I asked the driver kung ano yung dahilan, electrical malfunction doon sa unit niya,” PSO-GenSan Traffic Aide/Team Leader, Jerry Esmael, said.
It was learned that the driver was heading to PSO to renew the franchise of the vehicle when the incident happened.
“Naawa din kami, nagsikap na maka-renew ng franchise niya tapos ganon ang nangyari,” Esmael added.
