Two elderly men were found dead separately in Pampanga and Ilocos Norte.

In the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, police said 70-year-old Angelo Ramos of Barangay San Pedro Cutud was found dead in the river in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

Witnesses told police they saw Ramos last bathing in the river before he was found dead. His family reportedly tried to look for him since their house is just close to the area.

“Parang may nakakita, tapos sinabihan siya na bakit ka diyan naliligo? Then after a while nakita na lang siya na lumulutang,” City of San Fernando police chief PLtCol. Aris Gonzales said.

Meanwhile, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, the body of a 74-year-old man was found in Burnay River in Barangay Baresbes.

According to his son, the victim went to the farm afternoon on Sunday, August 31, 2025, to graze their animals but never returned home. Relatives thought he took shelter in a hut nearby when rain poured but he was found dead later in the river.

“Ang alam naming, natulog sa kabilang bahay (kubo). Pero kaninang umaga pumunta ako sa Timog (South). ‘Yung pamangkin ko sinabing nandito na si Tatay, patay na,” Warren Manuel, the victim’s son, said.

Authorities believe he may have drowned while crossing the river to reach his pasture land.
