A 58-year-old lady guard in Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City was found dead inside her residence, while her 62-year-old live-in partner sustained injuries.
The son of the lady guard has no one in mind as suspect other than the 25-year-old person who resides in the same house with the couple.
The son said that morning on August 30, 2025, the suspect was still in the house when he left for Consolacion, north Cebu. However, when he visited his mother at around 4 p.m. on August 31, 2025, the man was not around but he found tools stained with blood.
According to Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, love triangle is one of possible motives in the crime.
The son could not confirm though of a possible love triangle, but said he is convinced that the slay has something to do with money.
He pointed out that his mother recently sold a pig, and that she has considerable cash savings, but all of these went missing, including one of his mother’s two cellphones.
His mother's live-in partner was rushed to the hospital and is recuperating, as of posting time.
