Teachers and students at Mangaldan Central School have been dealing with leaking roofs in several classrooms, raising safety concerns during class hours.

The roofs of eight kindergarten classrooms and two Grade 3 rooms have deteriorated over time, causing constant leaks whenever it rains. Teachers said the problem has made it difficult to keep the classrooms safe and conducive for learning.

“Talagang tumutulo-lo, grabe talaga, nag ma-mop ako dito palagi,” Josefina Aquino, one of the teachers, said.

To prevent accidents, the school administration has already removed ceilings that were soaked with water. Teachers fear the situation could endanger students.

“Baka kasi mahulog, baka mahulugan ang mga bata,” Maricel Benitez, another teacher, added.

Principal Dr. Liza Lojo said repairs are underway, but admitted that the limited school budget has slowed down rehabilitation.

“Bina-budget po natin ang pera, may program of works naman, may plano po tayo na sinusunod,” she said.

The roofs of the kindergarten classrooms have already been fixed, while repairs for the Grade 3 classrooms are scheduled. However, Lojo said the school cannot afford to repair all damaged rooms at the same time due to budget constraints.
