The son of a barangay chairman in Cebu City was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation.

The suspect along with a driver were collared by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) 7 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Intelligence Unit 7 on Benedicto Street, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City afternoon on September 3, 2025.

PDEA 7 Regional Director Joel Plaza identified the suspect as a certain “Jun,” 42 years, a resident of Barangay Carreta, and described to be a “PDEA-PNP regional target-listed drug personality.”

Seized from the suspect’s possession were five packs of suspected shabu that weighed about 250 grams and estimated to be worth P1.7 million, the buy-bust money, and other pieces of non-drug evidence.

The case buildup took one month before the suspect was nabbed. The suspect was found to have the capacity to dispose of a kilo of illegal drugs weekly.

It was also learned that the suspect already has a case in 2022 for involvement in illegal drugs but he was at-large at that time.

The pieces of evidence were submitted to the PDEA 7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis and proper disposition.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165,  or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is up against the suspect.

Barangay Carreta Chairman Marciano Ando, in a GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak interview, said he does not know anything about his son's alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade.

Ando pointed out that his son does not even smoke and drink.
