A man and his son were killed during a shootout with police operatives during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Police said the suspects allegedly opened fire when they noticed they were actually dealing with police officers, prompting the latter to return fire.
The man and his son died on the spot. They were tagged as high value target in the illegal drug trade.
The man’s other 18-year-old son was arrested while another son escaped.
The suspect arrested is now detained and may face charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
Seized during the operation were sachets of suspected shabu weighing 240 grams and worth more than P1.6 million, two firearms, and magazines.
Investigation into the incident continues.
