Six people, including four minors, were injured in a collision involving a car and a “top-down” motorcycle with sidecar in General Santos City.
Based on investigation, the motorcycle with sidecar and the car were traveling in opposite directions when the top-down motorcycle allegedly swerved into the opposite lane and crashed into the car.
Authorities believe the driver of the top-down motorcycle lost control of the vehicle due to the weight of multiple passengers.
Col. Joel Fuerte, said.
The 35-year-old woman who was driving the top-down motorcycle and her passengers – five, 10, 13, 15 years old – were injured and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A 31-year-old man who was riding in pillion on a motorcycle following the top-down motorcycle was also brought to the hospital after he was hit by debris from the collision.
The female driver of the car was unharmed.
The three parties involved are set to meet for a possible settlement.
TEU reminded the public that top-down motorcycles should not be used to carry passengers, especially minors.
