Motorists in Davao City are bracing for the possibility of traffic worsening once the Agdao flyover will be closed for one month for preventive maintenance.

The closure will start on Friday, September 5, 2025, until October 5, 2025, during which traffic congestion is expected to worsen considering ongoing road repairs along Dacudao Avenue.

A jeepney driver said heavy traffic already stretches to Magsaysay Avenue, especially when accidents occur, and the closure of the flyover may affect their livelihood.

“Maabot mana didto sa Magsaysay ang traffic ana pirting taasa. Pag naa lang gani bangga diha, taas na kaayo ang traffic… unsa na lang kung sirad-an ang tulay. Maalkansi mi ana, ma’am, kay dugay man mi katuyok,” jeepney driver, Henry Balane, said.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways-Davao (DPWH-11), the closure is necessary to address visible cracks on the structure and ensure public safety.

“Dili siya anang liki nga maka-cause og...or...maka-threaten sa structure nato so those are gaps between slabs sa mga girders nato and then ang naa sa ilawom ato are expansion joints, which we will replace,” DPWH-11 Spokesperson, Dean Ortiz, said.

DPWH-11 assured that the repair works will be completed within the scheduled timeline.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has advised motorists to take alternative routes.
