Authorities seized abandoned mining equipment and sacks of suspected minerals during a two-day anti-illegal mining operation in Opol, Misamis Oriental.
Personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Northern Mindanao (RMFB-10) and other police units launched the operation in Barangay Limonda.
During the two-day operation, the team discovered and confiscated abandoned items, including generator sets, electric machine, electric blowers, shovels, chainsaws, and 220 sacks of alleged minerals, worth more than P1.1 million.
The items confiscated are now under the custody of RMFB-10 and will be turned over to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Northern Mindanao (MGB-10).
“This accomplishment shows our relentless commitment to enforcing the law against illegal mining. PRO10 will continue to work hand-in-hand with DENR and other government agencies to ensure that illegal miners and their protectors are held accountable,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Rolindo Suguilon, said.
