A carpenter linked to kidnapping and shooting incidents in Agusan del Sur was arrested in Bayugan City on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

According to the Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13), the suspect was arrested by virtue of warrants for murder, multiple attempted murder, kidnapping, and serious illegal detention.

Police said the 38-year-old suspect identified as alias “Owen” was a former political instructor of the NPA’s Section Committee 14, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

He was linked to the killing of an Army corporal and wounding of four other soldiers in Barangay Pinagalaan, Bayugan City on November 18, 2014, and the kidnapping of alias “Mamerto” in Barangay Grace Estate on December 17, 2014.

“We are firm in our resolve to bring fugitives of the law before the court so they may answer the crimes they have committed. Justice must prevail,” PRO-13 Director, Brigadier General Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV, said.
