The doctor who was held up at a mall car park in Mandurriao, Iloilo City arrived at the Hall of Justice on Saturday, September 6, 2025 for the filing of robbery with force and intimidation charges against the suspect. 

Dr. Lulu Salinas was accompanied by her husband, Ret. Col. Cornelio Salinas, head of the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The suspect was arrested in his residence in Bo. (barrio) Obrero, Lapuz District evening on September 4, 2025.  

Dr. Salinas was from the grocery section of the mall, and was already inside her car at the park area evening on September 3, 2025 when a man, later identified as alias “Fil," opened reportedly the car's door and announced a holdup.

Before his arrest, the Iloilo City Police confirmed with the victim on the suspect seen in a mall CCTV video and other footages in the city.

“Ang suspect, may nakakilala rin (sa kanya) na personnel natin sa ICPO. In-approach niya ang suspek so without resistance,” Police Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City Police Office director, said.

Ret. Col. Salinas confirmed his wife identified the suspect positively.

“At 8 o’clock in the evening, dumating si Dr. Salinas from the hospital kasi may trabaho siya. Pinakita ko sa kanya ang picture na ipinadala ni Col. Legada, the first reaction niya is, siya iyan,” he said. 

The suspect did not grant GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas an interview.

The news team tried to seek a statement from members of his family, but they also declined.

However, according to an official of Bo. (barrio) Obrero, Lapuz, the suspect has no existing record of violations, disputes, or derogatory information in the barangay.  

"Wala siyang record, even ang family niya. For me, personally, wala akong nakitang indication na magagawa niya ito,” Marissa Carmona, a barangay councilwoman, said.

The suspect took reportedly the doctor’s P30,000 cash and whipped her with a pistol.

The wallet was found in Solis Street, City Proper and was later turned over to the victim.

The suspect who was earlier detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 10 posted bail for his temporary liberty.
