A backhoe bucket crashed onto two mechanics and pinned them to death in Banga town, Province of Aklan.

It took responders nearly two hours to remove the bodies of the victims.

The incident happened in Barangay Pagsanghan afternoon on September 4, 2025.

The victims were identified to be brothers, alias “Toto,” 26 years old, and alias “Totong,” 33 years old, both residents of Barangay Cortes, Balete town in Aklan.

Based on police investigation, the brothers were fixing a dump truck at a motorpool. They asked help reportedly from the backhoe operator to raise the transmission of the truck.

“Nag-aayos ng dump truck so nag-a-assist yung isang operator ng backhoe para sa kanilang transmission. Suddenly, bumagsak kasi pumutok yung hydraulic hose ng backhoe. So, na-lose control kaya bumigay,” said MSgt. Elmar Relente, Banga Municipal Police Station investigator.

The two were declared dead on the spot due to severe wounds sustained on the head and on other body parts.

The backhoe operator and the family of the victims have reached reportedly an amicable settlement.

The company where the brothers worked as mechanics also vowed burial assistance to the family.

“Wala na, kasi may affidavit of no interest to file a case na po na na-execute ng both parties for their amicable settlement,” Relente added.
