A van driver and a male passenger were killed while another female passenger was injured after they were shot inside a van in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental past midnight on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The van was heading to Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental from Cagayan de Oro city when the incident happened.

According to two witnesses, the suspect was also a passenger who sat beside the driver.

The suspect shot the driver and the two passengers before he disembarked in Barangay Mandahilag.

The driver and the male passenger sustained gunshot wounds in the chest.

“Naigo kini siya (van driver) sa iyang dughan nga bahin ug kato pud ang isa nga pasahero nga naglingkod sa likod nga portion sa van nakahiagom gihapon og usa ka samad-pinusilan sa iyang dughan gihapon,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

The passenger injured was brought to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the incident was a robbery attempt or personal conflict.

“Ang mga witness nagtuo sila nga (adunay) posibilidad nga magkaila lamang kini sila sa maong suspetsado kay aduna man pud sila nadunggan nga ang term nga ginagamit sa suspetsado ngadto sa driver sa maong van is “angkol,” Navarro added.

Police are reviewing CCTV footages near the crime scene to identify the perpetrator.

Investigators also called on those who have knowledge about the suspect to come forward and cooperate with authorities.

“Ang maong individual aduna kini siya pangidaron nga 30 kapin, usa kini ka-lalaki adunay medium built, 5’4 iyang height and during the incident nagsuot kini siya og dark nga short ug black nga jacket,” Navarro said.
