Several motorists and residents struggled to cross flooded roads in General Santos City following heavy rains on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The Lagao-Conel Road in Barangay Lagao resembled a river because of the flood.

A 26-year-old basketball player stepped in to assist stranded motorcycle riders, including a pregnant woman whose husband’s motorcycle stalled in the flood.

“Naglakaw siya unya iyang bana naay dalang motor pud, giuna namu tung motor, naay dala mga gamit  tapos ingun siya buntis ko ba giadto na lang pud naku, giaalayan naku mao tung gihinay hinay nako palakaw,” the basketball player, Miggy Kawari, said.

Floodwaters on Nursery Road in another barangay reached almost knee-deep.

Engines of some vehicles also stalled while some commuters were stranded on their way to work.

“Wala pa gani koy pamahaw pa, gutom na kaayo walay kaon, tungod sa baha. Wala ka duty, wala,” commuter, Boyax Medina, said.

Barangay workers launched clearing operations, removing debris and garbage from canals to allow floodwaters to subside faster.

“Ang mga tao nako, utility akong gipakuha tung labi na sa kanal tung mga nagtambak nga mga basura,” Barangay Lagao Chairman Jaime Tatad said.

Meanwhile, motorists struggled to cross a flooded portion of the road in Barangay Greenhills, President Roxas, North Cotabato following heavy rains afternoon on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

A resident who uploaded the video of the flood said rocks carried down by floodwaters from hills nearby blocked parts of the road, making it even harder for motorists to pass.

Authorities are still checking whether anyone was injured in the incident.
