A 74-year-old man believed to have been carried away by strong current was found dead at a river in Malita, Davao Occidental.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, police identified the victim as alias “Tatay,” a resident of Barangay Lacaron.
Based on investigation, a couple discovered the victim’s body caught among logs and debris along the river on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly under the influence of alcohol after he attended a birthday party.
His child reportedly brought him home around 9 p.m., but the victim allegedly went out again alone and attempted to cross the river.
Authorities believe he was swept away by strong current triggered by heavy rains.
Police found no sign of foul play.
