A man allegedly behind the killing of three people in Zamboanga City has surrendered to authorities in Sulu.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the suspect as alias “Al,” a native of Jolo, Sulu and a mayoralty candidate in the province during the May 2025 elections. He lost in the polls.
CIDG said the suspect has standing arrest warrants for three counts of murder.
Authorities said the suspect was accused of being the primary perpetrator in the shooting incident that killed three people who were on board a motorcycle on their way home to Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City on February 7, 2025.
CIDG said the suspect fled the city and returned to his hometown in Jolo, Sulu to evade arrest after the court issued the arrest warrant in March 2025.
The suspect eventually surrendered to the CIDG Sulu Provincial Field Unit on September 8.
“With the accounting of this accused, we significantly help the victims and their families attain the success they deserved,” Acting CIDG Director, Major General Robert Morico II, said.
