The Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center urged Ilonggos to participate actively in the nationwide "Trillion Peso March" on Sunday, September 21, 2025, which falls on the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.
The Roman Catholic Church will join forces with civil society groups in a protest to condemn the reported corruption and plunder of trillion-peso government funds.
The protest action at Iloilo Freedom Grandstand will start at 2 p.m.
Meliton Oso, director of Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center, underscored.
Oso added that the group has mulled on creating an independent body that would assess suspicious infrastructure projects in Iloilo City and Province.
The group further planned to file complaints against individuals who are found “guilty” of plunder and of deceiving the public.
Moreover, the “No to PUV Phaseout” Coalition Panay will also stage a protest against the controversial Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo afternoon on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
This will be done simultaneously with other transport strikes to be staged by transport groups PISTON and Manibela in Metro Manila.
Alam naman natin na tip of the iceberg lang ang flood control,” said Elmer Forro, convenor of No to PUV Phaseout Coalition Panay.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has reminded rallyists of the “No Permit, No Rally” policy.
