A 23-year-old man accused of killing his own parents and younger brother in May 2025 was arrested in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Police said the suspect was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant at his house on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Authorities believe the pieces of evidence and the accounts of witnesses, the suspect’s younger siblings, are sufficient to convict the suspect.
“Actually, ang subject person ay nasa state of denial at first reaction na sa mga suspek they keep on denying the crime they had committed but he remained calm walang remorse sa itsura niya na siya nakapatay sa pamilya niya,” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Jayvee Babaan, said.
It can be recalled that the victims were found dead inside their house after they were allegedly struck in the head with a hammer. The alleged weapons were recovered from the crime scene.
The suspect’s two other younger siblings managed to escape and hide at that time.
“Base sa accounts ng witnesses especially ang kapatid niya na babae gi-prove nila nga during the said incident present itong kapatid nila (akusado),” Babaan added.
Police added that one of the possible motives for the crime was a reported family dispute after it was found that the suspect would not be able to graduate from college, something that allegedly disappointed his parents.
“Naghalo-halo na, frustration kay definitely ga-expect ang parents nga graduating tung suspek natin. Unfortunately drop out na pala sa ibang subjects tapos dili pala siya graduating sa year na ito,” Babaan said.
Authorities are also investigating whether or not the suspect is involved in illegal drug activities.
The suspect will undergo a drug test if he gives his consent.
He is set to face parricide and murder charges.
