Motorists can now use the newly built Calit-Lucao Road in Barangay Banaoang, Calasiao, Pangasinan, providing an alternate route to Dagupan City and the town of Binmaley.
The P10-million road project offers a smoother ride for commuters who, previously, had to take longer, traffic-congested routes or endure rough roads.
“Mas maganda na po ngayon kasi dati talagang mahirap dumaan dito,” Ken Fernandez, a motorist, said.
Barangay officials said the road is still in its 45-day curing stage, but motorcycles and tricycles are already allowed to pass through. Larger vehicles, however, remain restricted.
“Mahalaking tulong kasi kapag traffic sa Dagupan, dito na sila dumadaan,” Barangay Banaoang chairwoman Marietta Velasco said.
Velasco said heavy vehicles could damage the road and the barangay does not have the funds to rehabilitate it if it deteriorates.
To improve safety, the barangay also installed new streetlights along the stretch to prevent accidents at night.
