The perimeter fence of the Makilala Municipal Hall compound in Cotabato was damaged during a road accident involving several vehicles.

CCTV footage showed a cement mixer truck hitting a container van, causing both vehicles to crash into the perimeter fence.

The truck and the van also hit a “bao-bao” tricycle and a motorcycle parked by the road.

The 44-year-old mixer truck driver, his companion, and the 29-year-old van driver were unharmed.

Prior to the accident, police said the mixer truck had already hit a closed van, which sustained minor dents.

Authorities said the truck driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which caused the accident.

“Doon banda sa Poblacion, sa taas, meron po tayong checkpoint, doon pa lang, nawalan na siya ng preno, bumangga na siya sa isang van, then patuloy ang mixer truck na nakaabot dito in front sa Notre Dame of Makilala and nakabangga din siya sa additional container van and ito po yung dahilan para ma-reduce ang speed niya but yung…truck at saka yung  mixer truck, continuous ito. Sila pong dalawa, papunta doon sa pader ng ating municipality ng Makilala,” Makilala Municipal Police Station Spokesperson, Chief Master Sergeant Ritche Jala Gesulga, said.

Settlement proceedings between the involved parties are ongoing.

The local government of Makilala has yet to issue a statement regarding the damaged fence, as of this writing.

Police reminded motorists to check their physical condition and their vehicles regularly before traveling to avoid accidents.
