Dengue cases in Cebu City dropped but seven death cases were recorded.

The Cebu City Health Department logged a total of 1,516 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever from January 2025 to September 6, 2025, with seven fatalities.

The figure is lower compared to the same period in 2024 with a total of 2,172 dengue cases and 14 fatalities.

The Cebu City Health Department pointed out that the rainy days which led to massive flooding are seen as one of major factors in the proliferation of dengue-carrying mosquitoes and spread of dengue virus.

However, Cebu City Health Officer, Dr. Daisy Villa, warned the public not to go complacent with the recorded drop in cases, as mortalities are still prevalent.

Villa said that early consultation and detection for people experiencing recurring fever and other signs and symptoms of dengue is highly recommended.

On top of the mitigation measures is always to maintain a clean environment, she reiterated.
