Three people were reported dead while five others remain missing after severe flooding hit several barangays in Valencia City, Bukidnon on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

According to the city government, eight people were reported missing initially, but three bodies have been retrieved, based on initial information as of 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18.

Authorities have yet to identify the fatalities, as of this writing.

Retrieval operations by personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and teams from other agencies continue.

The local government said the barangays affected by the flooding include Poblacion, Barobo, Lumbo, Bagontaas, and Sugod.

Classes in all levels in these barangays were suspended on Thursday.

Up to 349 families from Poblacion are currently taking shelter temporarily at the city gymnasium.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City Health Office (CHO), and other volunteer groups have distributed relief goods and provided other services to residents affected.

Authorities also assured that medical needs of residents are being met, including health assessments, distribution of medicines against leptospirosis, tetanus shots, and wound care.

Government offices, police, military, and other volunteers have also launched clearing operations.

A rapid damage and needs assessment (RDANA) is ongoing to determine the extent of the damage caused by the flooding.
