A man who was allegedly caught in the act of stealing ice cream from a store in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City was arrested.
According to a witness, a commotion ensued between the suspect and the security guard who tried to apprehend him.
The commotion broke purportedly the glass door of the store.
It was not determined however, as of this writing, whether the specific item taken was indeed ice cream. But the suspect himself reportedly said that he would have wanted to cart away ice cream.
“Sa isip ko, nagnakaw siya kaya may kasalanan siya. Nagnakaw siya ng ice cream. Baka para sa anak or asawa niya… kinunan siya ng video para hindi siya masaktan ng mga tao. Pinadapa lang,” Allan, a witness, said.
In another video, the man was seen with hands tied until responding policemen arrived.
The suspect was taken immediately to the police station.
“Based sa salaysay, parang hindi siya consistent sa sinasabi and actuation. Parang wala siya sa sarili,” said Lt. Col. Lester Leada, chief of the Bacolod City Police Office - Operations Management Unit.
However, according to the police, the establishment did not report the incident at the station, and that no charges were filed againt the suspect, found to be a resident of Barangay 2 (Dos).
“Nasa kanila ang desisyon kung magpa-file. Natapos lang ang reglementary period, pinalabas na lang sa station,” Leada added.
GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas went to check the store, but the management refused an interview.
