Two people who went missing after they got carried away by strong current while swimming at the Talomo River near the Mini Asik-Asik Falls in Barangay Carmen, Davao City were found dead.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, police said a resident of Barangay Mintal found the 32-year-old victim, a glass installer and resident of Buhangin dead.
The resident said the body of the man was already in a state of decomposition when he was found afternoon on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
On Thursday, September 18, another man who was reported missing was found dead at a river in Barangay Tugbok.
He was found stuck on a rock by his relatives and friends.
Four others were found dead on Monday.
All of the victims were reportedly swimming in the river on Sunday, September 14, when the water rose suddenly and the strong current swept them away.
Authorities are still searching for one more missing person, as of this writing.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) earlier said that the Mini Asik-Asik Falls is a danger zone due to its susceptibility to landslides and flash floods.
Barangay Carmen officials are set to craft a joint resolution with nearby barangays, particularly Tamayong, to ensure there are regular security personnel to monitor the area and stop anyone attempting to swim at the falls.
