Various groups will stage a solidarity rally against corruption on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Plaza Independencia in Cebu City.

At least 30 sectoral groups pledged to participate in the rally to express their rage and frustration over deemed massive corruption in government, most glaring of which are the controversial flood control projects.

These groups are composed of vendors, farmers, drivers, students, among others.

In a media conference, representatives of the sectors signed a commitment for a unified call to fight corruption, to hold deemed “traitors” to the country accountable, and to seek their prosecution.

Juniño Padilla, lead convenor of Solidarity Rally Batok Kurapsyon, said that the rally is open to other members of society interested to participate. However, no political figure will be allowed to speak during the rally.

An estimated 5,000 individuals are expected to join the solidarity rally.

Padilla said the groups vowed to maintain peace and order while airing their grievances on September 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) assured the public they are fully prepared for the mass action on September 21, 2025 that coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

It was learned from Police Captain Charisma Gonzales, CCPO spokesperson, that aside from the rally at the Plaza Independencia, another group will stage a protest at Fuente Osmeña.
