The bodies of all eight people who were carried away by floodwaters at the Talomo River after swimming at the Mini Asik-Asik Falls in Barangay Carmen, Davao City on September 14, 2025, have been retrieved.
The body of a 13-year-old girl was found at Campo 5, Barangay Riverside on Saturday, September 20, nearly a week after the incident.
The girl’s mother identified the body positively, which was already in a state of decomposition.
According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the recovery of the girl’s body confirms that all missing persons have been accounted for.
The Barangay Carmen Council assured the public that entry to the falls where the incident happened is now prohibited.
In January 2023, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) prohibited all recreational activities at the falls due to natural hazards caused by mass wasting.
All agencies concerned and the officials of eight barangays in Baguio District are set to meet to discuss measures to strengthen security in the area.
