A 51-year-old man was stabbed to death in Maramag, Bukidnon.

Police said the victim was last seen drinking liquor near a store when residents of Barangay Dologon heard a series of gunshots.

After the incident, the victim was found lying lifeless in the area. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared on arrival.

The victim sustained two stab wounds in the chest.

Authorities are investigating the gunshots heard by residents since no gunshot wound was found on the victims’ body.

However, investigators recovered empty shells from the crime scene.

“After nila mag-inuman sa residence nila for no apparent reason, gisaksak siya then eventually accordingly sa witnesses nakarinig sila ng putok. On the conduct of investigation naka-recover ng empty shell ng .45 caliber ang investigator,” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Jayvee Babaan, said.

Authorities ruled out robbery as a motive since the victims’ belongings were intact.

“Ang biktima mahilig mag-maoy, in short troublemaker itong tao na to. Ito ang allegation ng mga kapitbahay niya (kapag naka-inom siya),” Babaan added.

Police are still investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive.

“To trace back kung sino itong mga naka-away ng biktima and then sa community kung may information sila kung may witness pwede silang mag-feed ng info (information) in relation to the said incident,” Babaan said.
