Floodwaters swamped Barangay Navaluán in Mangaldan, Pangasinan on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, inundating homes, the barangay hall, health center, and schools after days of heavy rains.
Barangay Chairman Francis Lopez said almost the entire community is underwater.
“Baha na po kami rito, 90 percent ng mga kabahayan dito baha, ito ring barangay hall namin, health center at maging ang mga eskwelahan,” he said.
Medicines and supplies from the barangay health center were moved to the second floor to keep them safe from floodwaters.
The Navaluán Elementary School was also inundated. Residents fear it may take weeks before students can return to class. They blame the absence of drainage canals for the recurring floods.
“Tuwing ulan baha na kaagad dito, sana matulungan kami, kasi wala kaming drainage. Sana makagawa ng drainage dito,” Maricor Lopez, a resident, said.
Barangay officials said that they do not have enough funds for drainage construction and appealed for help from the national government.
