A man tagged as the number one most wanted person in the Philippines and allegedly responsible for the killing of two women in Panabo City, Davao del Norte was arrested in Muntinlupa City.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspect identified as “Robert,” a native of Davao City and a resident of Sitio Masagana, Alabang was arrested by virtue of a warrant for murder issued by a court in Panabo City on February 16, 2022.
CIDG said the accused, considered as a national fugitive, was listed as the number one most wanted person in the country with a P375,000 reward for his arrest.
Authorities said the accused allegedly shot dead two women who were attending to their eatery in Panabo City on August 18, 2021.
One of the victims, the eatery owner, sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the head while the other, her helper, was hit in the leg.
After the arrest warrant was issued in 2022, the accused reportedly left Davao and hid in Muntinlupa to evade arrest.
“I commend the CIDG Detection and Special Operations Unit (DSOU) headed by its Acting Chief, PLTCOL Ariel T Huesca, for its commitment and unrelenting effort in capturing the nation’s number one fugitive. It underscores the CIDG’s commitment in accounting and arresting all wanted persons nationwide. With his arrest, we have helped the victims and the victims’ family attain the justice they deserve,” CIDG Acting Director, Major General Robert Morico II, said.
