Several homes in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Anolid, Mangaldan were flooded on Thursday, September 25, 2025, after water from Payas Creek suddenly overflowed.

Residents said it was unusual for their area to be affected despite past creek overflows.

“Mahirap, kasi ‘yung mga gamit namin nabasa, pati mga damit namin nabasa din,” Marissa Noe, a resident, said.

“Nabasa lahat, ngayon lang kami pinasok ng tubig,” Olga Mercado, another resident, added.

Barangay officials explained that the flooding was caused by an ongoing bridge construction project that disrupted the water flow at Payas Creek.

“Doon kasi may bumabara, imbes na tuloy-tuloy lang ang tubig sa Payas Creek. Dati naman noong wala pa ‘yun, tuloy lang ang agos ng tubig,” Barangay Chairperson Marissa Honsayco said.

Officials used a backhoe to clear the waterway and promised regular cleanups to ensure that garbage does not block the creek’s flow. Barangay leaders also conducted monitoring rounds to check on affected residents.
