Thousands of passengers and cargo remain stranded at ports across Southern Luzon due to Severe Tropical Storm #OpongPH.

According to the Coast Guard District Bicol (CGDBCL), as of 11 a.m. on September 26, around 3,574 passengers, 1,266 rolling cargoes, and five vessels were stranded in Bicol ports.

While 1,195 passengers, 257 rolling cargoes, 16 vessels, and 30 motorbancas were stranded in Southern Luzon ports, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Many vessels, including 111 in Bicol and 149 in Southern Luzon, have taken shelter to ride out the storm, while 28 trips in Bicol have been suspended.

CGDBCL, led by Commodore Ivan E. Roldan, has deployed 483 personnel across Bicol to assist in search and rescue, relief distribution, and emergency response.

The district’s teams have already helped evacuate more than 215,000 residents and are assisting with hauling and repacking relief packs for affected communities.

“Our teams are on the ground, and we will continue to provide support until all needs are met,” Roldan said in a press release.

The Coast Guard reminds the public to monitor official advisories and urges travelers to postpone trips until conditions improve.
