Uncollected waste in Cagayan de Oro City can now be addressed as the city government tapped a new contractor for garbage collection.
The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) announced that a private company based in Manila won the contract for garbage collection through the city’s Bids and Awards Committee.
CLENRO Chief, Engr. Armen Cuenca, said the contractor has mobilized 30 trucks so far, with each truck capable of carrying up to 20 cubic meters of waste.
“Ang signing sa kontrata gihimo na sa contractor nga Standard System ug Mayor Klarex Uy, mao na nga dako atong kalipay nga matubag na gyud atong nasinati nga problema sa mga milabay nga adlaw,” Cuenca said.
The new garbage collection system started on Friday, September 26, 2025.
It can be recalled that residents have been complaining over the past weeks about the uncollected trash across the city due to the lack of available trucks.
CLENRO added that collection will follow the usual schedule.
“Among hangyo nga molabay lang ta o mopagawas ta sa atong basura alas singko sa buntag taman alas otso sa buntag wala nay labay after ana kay mao na dayon ang ilang pag koleksyon,” Cuenca added.
