The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ibajay in the Province of Aklan placed the municipality under a state of calamity due to the flooding caused by Severe Tropical Storm Opong, according to a GMA News Online report.

GMA News Online cited that the report is based on Super Radyo dzBB's report received from Ava Marie Moises of Super Radyo Kalibo on September 27, 2025.

A total of 35 barangays was affected by #OpongPH and that most of them were flooded.

Even areas that were not flood-prone reportedly got flooded, which caught residents by surprise.

Many were stranded and needed to be rescued.

The town lost power supply for around 10 hours.

It was past 9 p.m. on September 26, 2025 when electricity was restored.

#OpongPH made six landfalls on September 26, 2025, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

Masbate was the province most devastated, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

#OpongPH exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on September 27, 2025 as a typhoon.

Further, the LGU suspended work and classes on September 29, 2025 because of the ill effects of #OpongPH in the municipality.

Based on Executive Order No. 28, Series of 2025, the LGU declares "suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools, as well as government and private offices, on September 29, 2025 (Monday) due to the adverse effects of flooding caused by Typhoon “Opong” in the Municipality of Ibajay, Aklan.”

The executive order is signed by Ibajay Mayor Jose Miguel Miraflores.
