Dagupan was placed under a state of calamity after Super Typhoon #NandoPH left more than half of its population reeling from severe floods that submerged nearly 30 barangays.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) recommended the declaration, which allows the local government to use emergency funds for relief and rehabilitation.
At the Malued evacuation center, evacuees like Merlita Arga have been staying for a week since their homes in Sitio Fisheries were inundated.
Baha pa rin, Ma’am,” she said.
In the same room, nine families, including that of Charlene Manaois, are also taking shelter.
“Humingi kami ng gamot sa labas. Libre po siya,” Manaois said.
Barangay Malued Chairperson Filipina Delos Santos said floodwaters in some zones remain high.
Bumagal kasi yung pagbaba ng tubig kaya hindi pa nababawasan ang mga evacuees natin,” she said.
She added that while elevated roads helped ease flooding in some parts, the damaged dike caused water levels to rise higher and stay longer.
The CDRRMO said monitoring continues in barangays that remain flooded.
