A woman was injured while six families were displaced after two fire incidents hit General Santos City.

A house was razed to the ground after a fire broke out in Barangay Labangal morning on Monday, September 29, 2025.

A mother and three minor children were rescued.

“Action na siya itum, ingon ko kalayo na man. Dali dali kog dagan, pagdagan nako, gi-una nako ang bata, gilikay sa naku ang akong pag-umangkon, luoy kaayo, init kaayo. Ang isa naratol pud ang akong manghod. Ako na lang nisulod,” the mother’s sibling, Alfie Ramos, said.

Ramos even tried to extinguish the fire.

“Pagbalik nako, kuha og tubig, gi-testingan nako kung mapalong ba dili gyud siya mapalong,” he added.

Later, firefighters arrived and put out the fire within a few minutes.

An electrical short circuit may have caused the fire but the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) continues to investigate the incident to also determine the cost of damage.

Meanwhile, several houses were razed to the ground after a fire hit Barangay Mabuhay over the weekend.

Firefighters responded immediately and put out the fire after nearly an hour.

BFP said at least five families were affected, while a 19-year-old woman sustained burn injuries.

The local government has already extended assistance to the families affected.

The damage to properties reached more than P160,000.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
