A modernized public utility jeepney (PUJ) snagged a footbridge of a commercial establishment in F. Ramos Street, Barangay Santa Cruz, Cebu City early morning on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The roof of the modern PUJ snagged the footbridge in the driver's attempt take a short cut in the vicinity of the commercial establishment, referred to as “mall."

The driver said he tried to avoid traffic congestion on his usual route.

It was learned that there are two footbridges in the area. While the vehicle was able to get past the first footbridge, it snagged the second one.

The tires of the vehicle were deflated so it can be moved past the second footbridge.

Initial assessment showed that the footbridge was destroyed.

Further, it was learned that the operator of the modern PUJ and the management of the mall have met to discuss on the concern.

The driver admitted his wrongdoing and the inconvenience he had caused to the mall and its clients.
